Resourcing Local Refugee Leadership for Inclusion and Solutions
A coalition effort focused on resourcing and positioning refugee-led organizations to influence refugee response.
About the Coalition Effort
We are a six organization-strong global coalition driven by the importance of transferring ownership and resources to refugee-led organizations.
Few of today’s 26 million refugees can safely return home any time soon. We need approaches facilitating host community inclusion and driving solutions. And we need them now.
Luckily, those approaches already exist.
Refugee-led organizations (RLOs) are facilitating inclusion in host communities with awareness outsiders don’t have, and driving solutions for people outsiders can’t reach. But, they rarely have the resources — funding, operational elements and political influence — to maximize impact.
This initiative addresses this resource gap.
Our Theory of Change
Our novel RLO-to-RLO fund and model will scale effective inclusion and solutions programs around the world.
Establish an RLO-to-RLO 'pay-it-foward' fund and funding model.
Support refugee-led organizations to strenghten their capacity.
Build strong connections between refugee-led organizations, influencial bodies and donors.
Refugee-led organizations are more strongly positioned to secure funding.
Greater collaboration between refugee-led groups and influencial bodies.
More refugees working within influencial organizations.
Refugee-led organizations are recognized for their critical role and receive funding.
Programming that is community-driven, culturally aware and legitimized by refugee is funded and implemented.
Governments design policies and practices that reflect refugee interests.
OUR PROJECT IN NUMBERS
We believe we must look beyond handouts and humanitarian aid if we are to see refugees rebuild their lives.
We therefore all use the strategic combination of inclusion programming (approaches that promote community safety, stability and resilience), and long-term solutions programming (approaches that reveal long-term protections including legal status and resettlement).
Our coalition has activities in 11 countries throughout Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East, giving us a strong perspective on the varied challenges that refugees face.
We have worked with refugee communities in advocacy, resettlement, legal empowerment, food security, community organizing, access to services and more.
Putting resources and power into the hands of refugees themselves is part of everything we do, starting with our coalition itself.
A LONG HISTORY
Our coalition has over 84 years of collective experience responding to refugees' needs and addressing the most pressing refugee emergencies.
Collectively, we are reaching over nearly 300,000 unique individuals per year with life saving approaches.
THE RLO-TO-RLO Difference
Our unique model of RLO-to-RLO funding and empowerment will be able to reach organizations that would otherwise go unnoticed by the international community
With a vibrant, refugee-led civil society leading the direction of refugee response, more refugees than ever with rebuild their lives.
